Registration of birth

plus two notarized copies (Copy of
Passport to foreign wife).
Registration of marriage

Supporting documents required for
marriage registration that took place
outside Lebanon are as follows:
- Marriage Application.
- Original Marriage Certificate plus one
notarized copy.
- Husband/Wife Lebanese ID Card or a
recent Individual Civil Registry Record
plus two notarized copies.
- Spouse's Birth Certificate (If he/she
is not Lebanese) plus two notarized
copies.

Registration of divorce

Documents required for the registration
of a divorce are as follows:
- Original Divorce judgment translated
into Arabic + One notarized copy.
- Husband/Spouse Lebanese ID Card or a
recent Family Civil Registry Record.
- Lebanese Marriage Certificate.
- Two notarized copies of the Wife's
Birth Certificate (if not Lebanese).

Registration of death

Lebanese Missions register the death of
a Lebanese citizen. Documents required
are as follows:
- Death Certificate Application
- Original Death Certificate added to
one notarized copy.
- Deceased's Lebanese ID Card, a recent
Individual Civil Registry Record or
Family Civil Registry Record added to
two notarized copies.
- All registration procedures are free
of charge.
Repatriation of remains

Lebanese Missions are ready to assist
Lebanese to bring back the remains of
their family member or relative that had
died abroad back to Lebanon. However,
the cost to bringing back the remain has
to be borne by the relative. Information
and documents required are as follows:
- Certified copy of death
- Burial Transit Permit
- Letter of non-contagious post-mortem
diseases issued by an authorized health
institution
- Letter of embalming
- Letter of sealed casket
- Original passport of deceased
- Lebanese Birth Certificate of the
deceased
Children born abroad to Lebanese fathers
are entitled to Lebanese citizenship.
Lebanon accepts the principle of dual
citizenship. Acquiring another
nationality does not result in losing
the original Lebanese citizenship.
Foreign wives of Lebanese husbands may
apply and obtain Lebanese citizenship.
They will become entitled to it one year
after the marriage has been entered in
the Civil Acts Register in Lebanon,
provided they apply for it with their
husband's approval.
The original copies of the following
documents should be provided:
a / In case the couple's marriage is
registered at the Embassy a legalized
statement from the wife applying for the
Lebanese citizenship with her husband's
approval plus one photocopy
b / In case the couple's marriage is not
registered at the Embassy the following
documents are required:
- A recent Extract of Family Civil
Registry Record showing registration of
marriage, plus one photocopy.
- The wife's Birth Certificate, plus one
photocopy.
- 2 photocopies of the wife's passport.
- 2 photocopies of the Lebanese passport
of the husband.
- 2 photocopies of the Marriage
Certificate.
